Trade and American Jobs: The Impact of Trade on U.S. and State-Level Employment, An Update (2010).
This study by shows that trade supports 38 million net jobs in the United States - more than one in five U.S. jobs. The report shows that trade (exports and imports, of goods and services) continues to have a net positive impact on U.S. jobs, including manufacturing jobs, and that workers in every state gain from trade. Opening Markets, Creating Jobs: Estimated U.S. Employment Effects of Trade with FTA Partners (2010). Directors Laura Baughman and Joseph Francois take a close look at the employment and other economic effects of trade with countries with which the United States has FTAs. In addition, the study also examines the employment and other economic effects associated with the FTAs themselves. The report was prepared for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Both the United States and Canada have experienced their shares of debates about the costs and benefits of trade, particularly when evaluating their bilateral trade relations.
